The election trail is heating up rapidly and the latest GOP poll showed that former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has an 8 percent lead over his nearest rivals, who are former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Sen. John McCain. They both attracted 20 percent of the votes in the poll.
The poll was conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center for CNN and WMUR-TV. It was a telephone poll and was conducted between June 6 and June 11, 2007. 304 people were called as part of this poll who said they planned to vote in the Republican primary.
The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 5.5 percentage points.
Former Sen. Fred Thompson, who is also a television actor, received 11 percent of the votes.
In March and April 2007, Romney was trailing both Giuliani and McCain in the GOP poll. He will be quite satisfied with the current result as it shows that his television commercials are being watched by Republican voters.
