‘Fantastic Four’ Surfs Past ‘Ocean’s Thirteen’ for Top Spot

“Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” had little trouble handling the waves created by “Ocean’s Thirteen” this weekend, taking the top spot from George Clooney, Brad Pitt and the rest of the casino heisting crew with $57.4 million at the box office.

Starring Jessica Alba, Ioan Gruffudd, Michael Chiklis and Chris Evans the Marvel Comics inspired flick inched past its 2005 premier which brought in $56.1 million.

After brining in $37.1 million last weekend “Ocean’s Thirteen” managed to grab an additional $19.1 million over the three-day period to bump its ten-day haul to $69.8 million.

The somewhat surprising “Knocked-Up” continued to bring in the dollars with an additional $14.5 million to move past the $90 million mark after three weekends.

Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley inched closer to the $300 million mark at the domestic box office with a $12 million weekend that raised the “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” treasure chest to $270 million.
