After having his 2006 season cut short due to an Achilles tendon tear free–agent linebacker LaVar Arrington will likely be sidelined for an extended period of time after he was involved in a motorcycle accident that resulted in a broken bone in his arm, three fractured bones in his leg as well as cuts and bruises over his body.
Arrington had been drafted by the Washington Redskins with the number two overall pick in 2000 and made three Pro Bowl trips. Arrington saw his playing time cut in 2004 after suffering a knee injury and after the 2005 season he bought out the remainder of his contract and signed with the New York Giants.
He only played in six games last season after an Achilles tendon tear put him on the sideline in October. The Giants released Arrington in February and he has yet to be signed by another team.
The accident occurred in Washington D.C. early Monday afternoon.
