City of Foley to Host American Cornhole Organization Major in 2015

Foley Alabama will host an ACO Major November 13 & 14, 2015

Foley, AL is going to be a “pitchin’ city” come November 2015 as it plays host to an ACO Major – in the Sport of Cornhole. Foley is hosting its Inaugural ACO Alabama Major, as a part of the ACO Season No. 11 Major Series in the Big South Division. The event will be held Friday, November 13th – 14th, 2015 at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex in Foley, AL.

Don Staley, Executive Director of Sports for the Foley Sports Tourism Complex, commented, “The City of Foley is elated to bring such a prestigious event in the sport of cornhole to our community. This will make for not only a great weekend of Cornhole, but a great weekend for tailgating fun.”  This cornhole tournament in Foley, Alabama is one in a Series of Majors that will take place across the country as part of ACO Season 11, which runs from September 2015 through July 2016.  The ACO is the governing body for the Sport of Cornhole, and is headquartered in Milford, OH.  

ACO officials expect over 250 people in attendance Friday night and all day Saturday, for the ACO Alabama Major. Gates open at 4:00 pm on Friday and 8:30 am on Saturday.  Pay-as-you play “Luck of the draw” will be available Friday and Saturday for amateur players. There will be food, beer and music to enjoy. However, players must be an ACO Member to compete in the points tournaments. There is no membership required to play in the luck of the draw events. Spectators are free. An ACO membership runs $25.00 for a season. Once a member, players can participate in both the World Singles and World Doubles competitions on Saturday for a small entry fee. Additionally, there will be a Senior Singles, Women’s Singles, and Juniors Singles eligible ACO Members can buy into for Friday as well.  Participants can learn more about American Cornhole by visiting their website at www.AmericanCornhole.com .
