The judge who ruled over the Anna Nicole Smith case, Larry Seidlin, will resign from his position next month. The judge was made famous after he began sobbing while announcing the verdict of what would become of Anna Nicole Smith’s remains.
Seidlin did not specify what his plans were after he is resigning on July 31. Rumors of Seidlin being on a TV court show have been heard. Chris Stotz, a 17th Judicial Circuit spokesman said “He won’t say. He’s not commenting on what his future plans are.”
In his resignation letter he said “it is now time for me to devote more of my daily life to my own young family and pursue the many opportunities that have been offered to me outside the judicial system and I have disregarded until now.”
Seidlin made the fight over Anna Nicole a house hold topic. He opened the court room to cameras and on the first day the case was heard in court he said “This body belongs to me now.”
He shocked many by calling attorneys “my good lawyer” and sometimes called them “Texas” or “California.” The case was called a circus after on attorney began singing. Seidlin replied sternly "There's no circus here, my friend.”
The 56-year-old judge won over many when he began sobbing while announcing that Anna Nicole Smith would be buried by her son in the Bahamas. Many thought that it showed how much he cared about the people in his courtroom.
