Sacramento Kings Nab Reggie Theus as New Head Coach

Former NBA All-Star Reggie Theus is set to become the new head coach of the Sacramento Kings after reaching an agreement in principle with the club’s owners.

Theus, who spent five seasons in a Kings uniform, will be taking over for Eric Musselman who was fired in April after Sacramento managed just 33 wins during the 2006-07 campaign.

Drafted by the Chicago Bulls in the 1978 NBA Draft, Theus went on to a successful 13-year career in which he scored 19,015 points and dished out 6,453 assists. For the past two years he has been the head coach at New Mexico State where he led the Aggies to the NCAA Tournament.

The Sacramento Kings will introduce Theus as the new head coach at a news conference on Wednesday.
