Nicole Richie caught a break on Tuesday when Superior Court Commissioner Steven K. Lubell set a new date of July 11 for her DUI hearing.
Richie was arrested last December after she failed a sobriety test administered by the California Highway Patrol. Her black Mercedes SUV was spotted traveling in the wrong direction while heading down a freeway.
In February the 25-year-old star of “The Simple Life” pled not guilty to the misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence.
Richie could soon be asking her friend Paris Hilton how to cope inside a prison cell as this is her second DUI charge since 2003. Richie was convicted of the misdemeanor charge in June 2003 and a second conviction could land her in a cell for a period of 90 days up to a year.
