John Travolta revealed in his recent interview with W magazine that while Tom Cruise may have presented the argument against psychiatry and pharmaceutical drugs in a manner that was perceived as hostile, his accusations were accurate.
In the interview Travolta addressed the now famous run-in Cruise had with NBC’s “Today” show host Matt Lauer in 2005. Cruise took a beating from the public for openly criticizing Brooke Shields for taking anti-depressants after giving birth. After questioning the legitimacy of psychiatric treatment Cruise then blasted Lauer for suggested that the treatment may help some people.
When discussing the incident in the interview Travolta said “"I don't disagree with anything Tom says. How would I have presented it? Maybe differently than how he did, but it doesn't matter. I still think that if you analyze most of the school shootings, it is not gun control. It is (psychotropic) drugs at the bottom of it.”
Both Travolta and Cruise are Scientologists, a religion known for its anti-psychiatry position.
