Valentine’s Day as it was recently covered on NBC’s
local San Diego channel.
According to the local San Diego news story and the National Retail
Federation, Americans spent approximately $2.1 billion on flowers this
Valentine’s Day as well as $18.9 billion on all types of gifts for this
holiday. This new record number was definitely reflected in the San Diego
florist’s sales this year as each of its San Diego locations experienced
non-stop traffic flow during Valentine’s Day. The San Diego florist opened its
doors at 6:00a.m. Valentine’s Day, filling existing and new orders for bouquets
and flower arrangements as well as staying open until every customer had their
Valentine’s Day flowers.
With the holiday of love falling on a Saturday, many local San Diego
residents also chose this day to get married. Nearly 200 couples tied the knot
at Waterfront Park and picked up their flowers from nearby Allen’s Flowers and
Plants downtown, San Diego’s Best Flower Shop, which is located in the Gaslamp
District.
