Fight of the Century: Mayweather vs. Pacquiao will shatter boxing records

The fight of the century will take place this Saturday, May 2nd. Floyd “Money” Mayweather will put his undefeated record on the line against Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand. Many experts in the boxing world felt that this was a fight that would never happen. However, these two boxing superstars will come together where they will split close to $300 million between the two of them. This is the fight that could rejuvenate the world of boxing for a generation that has gradually lost interest in the sport.

The history of boxing has had it’s fair share of supreme fighters. Names like Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Sugar Ray, and George Foreman captured the interest of young fans during their careers. There aren’t two bigger names in the sport right now then the two that will step into the squared circle in 5 days. This fight means more than most people can imagine.

Manny Pacquiao is the only boxer that has held titles in 8 different weight classes. Mayweather has never lost. These two boxers have nothing left to prove, there is nobody else to fight, the only thing that they can do that they haven’t done already is face off against each other. Will this be the last fight for each of them?

If Mayweather, who is favored to win, gets the victory he will be undefeated and there are no blemishes on his record. He has done it all, and has nothing left to prove. If Pacquiao is able to accomplish what no other fighter before him was able to do, then he will ultimately restructure the landscape of the sport for this generation. As cocky as Mayweather has been throughout his entire career, it would be quite ironic to see him fall short of a victory on what could be his last fight.

The numbers that this fight is expected to generate are staggering. The tickets that sold out in 60 seconds will bring in $74,000,000 and that isn’t considering those that are being resold above face value on StubHub and other ticket sites. If you are going to order this fight on PPV then you will pay the highest fee for a fight ever, $100.00. Records will be broken, and they will be shattered. The highest buy rate for a fight was 2.4 million buys for the Mayweather vs. De La Hoya fight, it is expected that the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight will bring in close to 4 million buys.

If you have never watched a full boxing match from start to finish, this is the one that you need to see. Mayweather vs. Pacquiao has been what we have been waiting on for years. Trust me when I say you do not want to miss this once in a lifetime fight. Pick your side before Saturday, will it be Mayweather or will it be Pacquiao?
