Advertising is usually the first thing to go and very late to recover in a recession but the Super Bowl broke this rule with more ads than ever. There were 48 minutes of commercials in this years Super Bowl 3 minutes longer than any previous Super Bowl.
Despite the larger number of ads, companies were still working to keep costs down as low as they could, with the program airing more brief 15-second ads than they have in the past.
Super Bowl commercials are typically thirty seconds longs, airtime that costs between $2.5 and $3 million. This year though, seven of thr 66 advertisements clocked in at 15 seconds in length.
