Angelina Jolie Hits the Screen in “A Mighty Heart”
After more than a year of hype surrounding her latest film, “A Mighty Heart,” moviegoers will finally have the chance to see Angelina Jolie in the role that she has said helped change her life.
Jolie portrays Marianne Pearl, the wife of slain Wall Street Journal journalist Daniel Pearl who was murdered in Pakistan while investigating Islamic fringe groups in 2002. Marianne was five months pregnant when she learned of Daniel’s death. It is that scene in the movie that Jolie has described as “the worst acting day of my life” and continued by calling it “the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”
The movie was partially produced by Plan B Entertainment, a production company founded by Jolie’s partner Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston and Brad Grey.
“A Mighty Heart” will be going up against last weekend’s big winner “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” which brought in over $57 million in its opening.
Jolie will also be squaring off against Pitt along with his pals George Clooney and Matt Damon who star in “Ocean’s Thirteen” now in its third weekend.
