Flowerama Columbus Renews its Support for Pelotonia by Participating for Fourth Year in a Row

COLUMBUS, OHIO. (July 7, 2015). Flowerama Columbus, a family owned and operated flower shop with four locations, announced that it has renewed its commitment to giving back to the community with a fourth year of participation in the Pelotonia bicycling event that raises money for cancer research in Columbus at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. This grassroots bike tour will be held August 7-9, 2015.

Steve Ozment, Owner of Flowerama Columbus, said, “This beneficial fundraiser has grown over the years, but what has stayed the same is that one hundred percent of the proceeds go to cancer research. The participants in Pelotonia sign up for various bike rides and have to raise a certain amount of money to go different distances. They do training rides year round just to prepare for this special summer event. It’s a true vehicle for more of us to practice compassion and kindness.”

Ozment added, “Every July, we get started on the fundraising effort by offering ways for virtual riders to participate through a donation rather than riding. We have tried different variations but the constant that works is offering the name squares to our customers for a dollar or more donation size.  However, many customers often make larger donations for this worthy cause. This event is a great example of how a community can come together for a common goal that benefits all in need of a cure for cancer, including those with cancer and their family and friends that support them.”

These Pelotonia squares are posted as support for the event and the riders at each of the four Flowerama flower shop locations through the Columbus area. Customers can now purchase these squares for the donation size of their choosing until the end of July.
