Dr Nader N Youssef appointed Chief Medical Officer of electroCore

Dr Nader N Youssef, has been appointed Chief Medical Officer of electroCore, the US based electroceutical healthcare company. Nader brings more than 15 years of clinical, academic, and industry research experience to electroCore. 

He was previously Executive Director GI Global Clinical Development and Medical Affairs for NPS Pharmaceuticals including responsibility for overall regulatory and development strategy. During his time at NPS, his team was able to secure marketing approval in the US and EU for Gattex and Revestive for the treatment of intestinal failure related to short bowel syndrome.


Prior to NPS Nader was Director of Clinical Research at AstraZeneca USA where his assignments included developing agents with novel mechanisms of action focused on gastrointestinal pain and motility.

Prior to joining the pharma industry Nader held a variety of senior posts at Goryeb Children’s Hospital in New Jersey.  He has a Bachelor’s degree in finance from the Stern School of Business, New York University, trained as a doctor at the Ross University, in Dominica, West Indies and studied pediatrics at the University of Medicine and Dentistry Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Jersey. Following his residency Nader completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology/Hepatology at the Children’s Hospital, University of Pittsburgh specializing in Neurogastroenterology.  During his time in Pittsburgh, he also attended the Katz School of Business, University of Pittsburgh, where he received an Executive MBA focused on Commercialization of Biotechnology.

He currently holds two appointments at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey; one as Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the New Jersey Medical School and also, as Assistant Professor, at the School of Health Related Professions. Nader has authored more than 100 publications and continues to run a weekly GI clinic at the Digestive HealthCare Center affiliated with Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, New Jersey.
