St. Luke's Hospital of Kansas City is recognized on U.S. New & World Report

Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City has been recognized on U.S. News & World Report's Annual Best Hospital rankings for 2013-14. The hospital ranks #2 in Missouri, #2 in the Kansas City Metro area, and is recognized among the Best Hospitals in Northwestern Missouri. The hospital also ranks as high-performing in eight specialty areas including urology.

The urology department staff features three Kansas City Urology Care urologists:

- Mark S. Austenfeld, MD

- Brandon D. Pomeroy, MD

- Daniel G. Holmes, MD

"It's very gratifying to see Saint Luke's Hospital improve its standing in state rankings, and that so many high-performing specialty areas are recognized," said Melinda Estes, M.D., President and CEO of St. Luke's Health System.

U.S. News evaluates hospitals in 16 adult specialties. In most specialties, it ranks the nation's top 50 hospitals and recognizes other high-performing hospitals that provide care at nearly the level of their nationally ranked peers.

U.S. News publishes Best Hospitals to help guide patients who need a high level of care because they face a particularly difficult surgery, a challenging condition, or added risk because of other health problems or age. Objective measures such as patient survival and safety data, the adequacy of nurse staffing levels, and other data largely determined the rankings in most specialties.

The specialty rankings and data were produced for U.S. News & World Report by RTI International; a leading research organization based in Research Triangle Park, N.C. Using the same data, U.S. News & World Report produced the state and metro rankings.
