McCain Campaign Apologizes to Romney for Remarks on Mormon Church
Earlier this year a volunteer for John McCain’s presidential campaign had made some comments about the Mormon Church, and now McCain’s campaign is apologizing to Mitt Romney for them.
This incident took place in April when Chad Workman, Warren County chairman, was supposed to have made some negative comments about the Mormon faith and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Workman is believed to have questioned whether the Mormons were Christians and made reference to an article which alleged that the Mormon Church was supporting Hamas, the Islamic militant group.
He also equated the treatment of Mormon women to the Taliban.
Danny Diaz, McCain’s spokesman, issued an apology to Romney and said that the comments were unacceptable and inappropriate. While Gentry Collins, Romney’s Iowa campaign manager, accepted the apology on behalf of Romney’s campaign.
