Gulf Breeze Recovery co-founder and Director of Admissions Reed Smith was recently a guest on the popular internet radio show of “Born Happy”, a UK based but internationally known website founded by “Happiness Expert” Lian Brook-Tyler. The show, found at, covers a wide range of topics from addiction and anxiety to family relationships and money. It lists interviews with expert speakers such as Michael Neill and Jamie Smart and airs a new episode every Thursday. Past episodes are archived and can be explored by subject topic.

Reed’s topic, “Why recovery from an addiction doesn’t have to be a struggle” touched on the basic tenets of the philosophy used at Gulf Breeze Recovery, a non-12-step recovery program located on the water overlooking Pensacola Beach, Florida. “I really enjoy talking with people doing great work like Lian at Born Happy about what we do and we are hopefully getting in front of people that need a treatment center like ours. I strongly believe that what we do at Gulf Breeze Recovery is revolutionary in this industry, and I hope that our approach gives hope to people who are struggling to find the right solution for them.” Reed discussed why addiction is not a disease, the myth of recovery complexity and how we can all access peace and mental health for ourselves. Host Lian Brook-Tyler, of her talk with Reed: “I felt that this podcast episode that I recorded with Reed Smith of Gulf Breeze Recovery needed to be out there…If you have an addiction or know someone with an addiction, Reed's recovery centre has an incredible and innovative approach to treating addictions.”
