Rod Beck, the three-time All-Star and owner of 286 major league saves died on Saturday at his home in Phoenix, Arizona, Beck was 38-years-old.
During his 13-year career Beck played for the San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox and San Diego Padres. He ranks 22nd in career saves and was named the Relief Man of the Year in 1994 after collecting 28 saves and posting a 2.77 ERA for the Giants.
Beck’s most successful year as a reliever came in 1998 when he earned 51 saves for the Chicago Cubs.
The cause of death has yet to be determined as Phoenix police are investigating the case.
