CureSearch and Deira Rocks Launch Bracelet to Raise Funds for Children's Cancer

Deira Rocks announces the expansion of their “Conquer kids Cancer” campaign by launching an updated specially designed bracelet to be marketed exclusively by CureSearch.

100% of profits from the sale of the Deira Rocks “CKC” bracelet will be donated. 75% will go to CureSearch to help advance research and 25% will continue to be donated to the Family Resource Program within the Division of Hematology/Oncology at Children’s Hospital Boston, assisting families already in treatment.

This second wave campaign follows the highly successful “CKC” bracelet campaign benefiting Children’s Hospital Boston launched in Oct 2006. Over 500 bracelets were sold raising $15,000 for families who were in treatment at the hospital. Programs such as free parking coupons will be funded for the entire year as a result.

“The sales of the CKC bracelet exceeded our expectations. It provided much needed funding for programs which offer immediate and direct assistance to families while their child is on treatment for cancer. This kind of funding is very meaningful as it comes from a family who could see beyond their own needs and create a funding opportunity for others in their same position” Says Summer Menefee Patient and Family educator at Children’s Hospital, Boston

In August of 2006, Gerritsen’s 5 year old son was diagnosed with a rare form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma called “Burkitt’s” It was this experience that ignited her passion to use her jewelry design company to help raise funds for research and to help families like hers in treatment. Her son is now in remission and finished treatment in May, 2007.

“I am thrilled to move this campaign into a larger arena with CureSearch and to contribute to funding research which is the only answer to ending childhood cancer.” said Deira Gerritsen,
Founder of Deira Rocks.

The launch of this new bracelet coincides with “Reach the Day: Conquer Childhood Cancer”, June 25-26th in Washington, DC. This national day of awareness will bring together children and adolescents with cancer, parents, families, friends, survivors, advocates and health care professionals from all around the country to sound the alarm for the vital need for a cure.

Known for the unique way design and semi precious gemstones fuse to create hip and healing pieces, Deira Rocks is bringing together this energy healing bracelet and people who are connected with or concerned about putting an end to childhood cancer. The CKC bracelet is designed with stones of turquoise, cat’s eye and cybersilver that offer healing, protection and insight to the wearer. Turquoise is known as the master healer and strengthens the anatomy while guarding against all disease. Cat’s eye promotes clarity of mind and inner-vision while Deira Rock’s unique cybersilver nuggets amplify the power of both stones while bringing love and intuition to the wearer from the coral inside. A sterling silver dragonfly has been added to the “CKC” bracelet symbolizing change, renewal and transformation. As with all Body Rocks designs, an antique Chinese Coin is strategically placed within the design for good luck and prosperity.

“This is a piece rich in symbolism and energy” Says Deira “The bracelet also gives much in return. Wear it and you will feel the power of both the healing it provides and also knowing that you’ve contributed to helping put an end to childhood cancer.”

The CKC bracelet sells for $85.00 and can be purchased on the company Web site at www.deirarocks.com or through CureSearch at https://giftshop.curesearch.org/
