Group Organizing Iowa Forum Say Ron Paul Not Credible

Iowans for Tax Relief along with the Iowa Christians Alliance are organizing a forum for presidential candidates on June 30, 2007. They have invited Republican and Democrat presidential candidates to participate in the forum.

Ron Paul is of the six Republican candidates who has not been extended an invitation to participate in the forum.

This drew angry responses from Ron Paul supporters. However, officials of Iowans for Tax Relief contend that Ron Paul was not invited since he had little presence in the state with regard to his campaign plus he did not rank too high in the polls conducted in Iowa.

Edward Failor, vice president of Iowans for Tax Relief, said that invitations were sent only to those presidential candidates who were considered to be credible and Ron was not considered credible at this stage.

Failor further added that candidates, both Republicans and Democrats, were invited after taking into consideration their campaign presence in Iowa and support they had. Failor pointed out that none of the Democrat candidates accepted the invitation to participate in the forum.

Mike Huckabee of Arkansas, Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, Tommy Thompson of Wisconsin, Sam Brownback of Kansas, Duncan Hunter of California and Tom Tancredo of California will be participating in the June 30 event.

Kent Snyder, Paul’s campaign chairman, acknowledged that Paul did not have an Iowa campaign office but he expected to add to full time staff in Iowa very soon. He did not think that Failor’s explanation for not inviting Ron Paul was plausible.
