At the St. Athanasius and St. Cyril Coptic Orthodox Theological School we believe in the teaching of the critical appropriation of the Orthodox tradition. We seek to provide our students with a sound Orthodox Education that helps them to be Christian Leaders in their communities. Expand your knowledge of Orthodox religion and theology when you apply to the St. Athanasius and St. Cyril Coptic Orthodox Theological School. This Fall semester we are offering a variety of courses including COP 3013 Survey Of Coptic Literature.
Classes for COP 3013, and many of our other courses being offered this Fall, with start on August 29th and run through December 21st 2016.
Survey of Coptic Literature will be taught by Dr. Faten Morris Guirguis and will feature fully-online instruction throughout the semester. This course is designed and devoted to an in-depth study of the Coptic experience as captured in the seminal works of masters of Coptic literature from the Fourth till the Eleventh century AD. Students are exposed to the various genres and periods of Coptic literature and the ideas and forces that shaped the writing of those times including romances, narratives, hagiographies, gnostic, biblical, and patristic works.
By the end of this course students will have developed an intimate familiarity with the controversial Coptic literary scene.
