20 year old Shane Hartline from Lake Wales, FL has started a Website, www.snlorbust.com in hopes of landing himself a Saturday Night Live Audition. The website includes a “Plea” Video and a Petition for people to sign if they agree Hartline should get an SNL Audition.
Hartline has been filming since a very young age, when his parents would let him use their camera as a young child. He would set their camera on top of his television and perform skits along the likes of the ones he would watch on shows like SNL, MadTV among many others. Hartline has always felt most comfortable in front of the camera and performing and you can definitely tell with his online Comedy Sketches.
Hartline started up his own Online Comedy Group with him and his friends called “Wooden Steel Productions”. The guys produce online comedy sketches, music videos, live improv shows, and live Internet Web Shows on their website www.woodensteel.tv every Thursday Night at 10pm. The crew has even been given looks by NBC from a pilot they were going to be a part of called “Its Your Show” hosted by Carson Daly that fell through.
Hartline also every Wednesday performs live skits in front of his church with selected Youth Group kids. He is given a basic outline, and he then does whatever he wants for the rest. “It’s where I’ve learned what works and what doesn’t work in front of a crowd” says Hartline. He also attended many improve classes at Comedy Buffet in Winter Haven, FL and that is why he was granted the task at his church.
Among all the things he’s already done with his life Hartline also tried a career at Professional Wrestling as the crazy surfer named “Rip Malibu”. He started training for that at age 16 and by age 17 was Wrestling for events all across the state of Florida. He decided to put wrestling on hold in late 2006 to focus on his true dreams of being a part of Saturday Night Live.
Within the first week of the SNLorBUST website launch Hartline had over 100 signatures just from his online outlets and was featured in two of his local newspapers about his project. Many other media outlets have already shown interest in covering the SNLorBUST project, and Hartline is completely blown away already at the success.
Hartline feels if he can get enough signatures on his petition it should be able to turn heads up at NBC. He plans on sending the petition up to NBC Executives once it receives 5,000 signatures. What has started off as just a clever idea to Hartline may actually get him some attention from some really big places!
