What Will Happen If Bloomberg Runs For President?

There seems to be popular support for Michael Bloomberg if he decides to run for presidential. At least that is what the CNN-Opinion Research Corporation poll tells us.

However, Michael Bloomberg, the New York mayor, has been insisting that he is not running for president. He thinks that after having two candidates from New York, the city does not need a third one.

Out of the two candidates running for president from New York, one is former mayor Rudy Giuliani, who is the Republicans’ national front-runner with 30 percent support while the second candidate is Hillary Clinton, who is the national front-runner for the Democratic nomination and enjoys 43 percent support.

Earlier Bloomberg was a Democrat but he has been elected twice as Republican. He recently said that he had no affiliations and declared himself independent.

If Bloomberg had decided to run for president as an independent early in the year, he would have had single digit support. However, after his party switch, support for him has increased to 17 percent.

If Bloomberg does decide to run for president, he would end taking votes from Hillary Clinton and Rudy Giuliani, and it would end up being a three-way contest between them.

USAElectionPolls.com thinks that if Bloomberg does decide to run for president, the decision would have a negative impact on the Democrats. With Clinton, Giuliani and Bloomberg in the fray, it would be two liberals against a Republican.

On the other hand, Bloomberg is not too well known nationally. This means he would have spend a lot of money in running campaigns across the country so that voters get to know him and his politics better.
