Official Says Professional Wrestler Chris Benoit Murdered Wife and Son Before Committing Suicide
After finding professional wrestler Chris Benoit, 40, his wife Nancy, 43, and seven-year-old son Daniel dead in their home on Monday investigators in the matter now believe the case to be a murder-suicide.
An official in the investigation revealed that Benoit was believed to have strangled his wife and smothered his son over the weekend and then took his own life by hanging himself on Monday.
Benoit had been scheduled to appear at a World Wrestling Entertainment event in Houston on Sunday but cancelled due to “personal reasons.” Authorities were asked to check on Benoit by the WWE and when they arrived at the Fayetteville, Ga. home they discovered the three bodies, each in separate rooms.
The former heavyweight champion’s body was found in the home’s weight room while his wife was found in an office and his son was in an upstairs bedroom.
