Paris Hilton’s life was “definitely in danger” says Sheriff Lee Baca

Sheriff Lee Baca told TMZ.com why he sent Paris Hilton home to serve her time. In the interview yesterday he said she was put on house arrest because her life was “definitely in danger.”

Baca sent the hotel heiress home to serve her time after only three days in jail for undisclosed medical problems. The judge called Hilton and Baca back to court and he sent her back to jail. Hilton was sent to the medical ward at Twin Towers jail where she remained until she was transferred back to the Lynwood jail. She was released Tuesday after serving 23 days  behind bars.

"When people are not functioning normally, they're not eating normally, they don't have a sense balance in their lives, God only knows what could happen. We've had plenty of people die in the county jail system, not because of anything we did, but because we didn't understand the medical problem,” Baca said. Baca has been in question about his decision.

Baca revealed her medical condition, “decompensating.” He explained that decompensating is the ‘deterioration of a person’s mental state to the point of severe depression, anxiety or delusions.’
