After nearly ten years apart the Verve are back together and ready to put out a new album.
As reported by website NME, Richard Ashcroft, Nick McCabe, Peter Salisbury and Simon Jones “were getting back together for the joy of the music.” The foursome are currently recording tracks for their new album and that will be followed with a tour beginning in November.
Considered one of the most influential British bands of the 1990s, the Verve broke up shortly after their most successful album “Urban Hymns” peaked. The single “Bittersweet Symphony” gained them instant commercial appeal in the U.S. while maintaining their following in the UK but controversy surrounded the song.
The Verve were sued for using a reversed looped sample of a Rolling Stones song in “Bittersweet Symphony” and they lost all their royalties to the song.
Dates have been set for six UK shows following the release of their new album with Glasgow’s Academy hosting shows on November 2 and 3, Blackpool’s Empress Ballroom on Nov. 5 and 6 and London’s Roundhouse on Nov. 8 and 9.
