The World’s Smallest Surviving Baby Finally Leaves California Hospital And Heads Home

After being born in a San Diego hospital over 5 months ago at 8.6 ounces, the world’s smallest surviving baby heads home from a California hospital. The mother heads into the hospital at just 23 weeks and 3 days pregnant and is told that she must deliver the baby immediately due to extreme complications.

A standard pregnancy is about 40 weeks and the average baby is born weighing between 5 pounds 8 ounces and 8 pounds 13 ounces.

Doctors are reporting that baby Saybie is happy and healthy and everyone is bound to be happy that she is finally getting to go home, including the mother.
