Minnesota Police Officer Mows Elderly Woman’s Yard During a Welfare Check

Matt Siltala and Jay McCoy were doing a welfare check on an elderly resident on June 6th. When the patrolman spoke with the resident, he asked her why her yard was so unkempt. She explained that she doesn't have anyone to mow her yard for her and in that very instant Siltala grabbed her mower and cut the front yard.

McCoy took a photo of Siltala hard at work and the sweet moment of the officer helping the older woman has quickly spread across social media.

“We have had a few people inquire about helping this resident,” they wrote. “We will do some checking and get back to those who have shown interest. It’ll be a few days though.”

A followup comment from the department revealed that they were exploring ways they could help the elderly woman. “We have had a few people inquire about helping this resident. We will do some checking and get back to those who have shown interest. It’ll be a few days though.”
