The death count for American tourists vacationing in the Dominican Republic continues to grow, not totaling 9 confirmed deaths. Joseph Allen, 55, who was vacationing in the D.R. was found unresponsive in his hotel room at the Terra Linda Resort on June 13. Allen was on a trip celebrating his friend’s birthday.
According to his brother, Jason, Joseph had skipped out on dinner on the night of his death, telling his family and friends that he was not feeling well. It is also reported that this was a repeat visit to the same hotel in the Dominican Republic by Joseph. A toxicology report will be conducted but it is being reported that this could take up to 30 days.
Also in the news regarding tourists and health in the Dominican Republic were Jimmy Buffet fans that fell severely ill at a resort in the Dominican Republic.
According to D.R. officials, none of these nine deaths are related.
