While Tesla’s (NASDAQ: TSLA) autopilot function has gotten better and better over the years, Tesla reminds drivers that they must keep their eyes on the road and be ready to engage the vehicle if the auto-pilot fails to detect obstructions in the road, such as cars, trucks, people, or in this case, traffic barrels.
Many Tesla owners clearly are not following the rules, as evidenced by this Model 3 driver, who fell asleep, plowed through a string of 11 construction barrels. Thankfully, no one was killed or injured in this accident.
The Tesla Autopilot function is a great for making long highway commutes more enjoyable or even less stressful in some situations. However, drivers must realize that the autopilot is not fool proof and need to pay attention.
