Minerals Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:MTX) has released the financial results for its 2009 fourth quarter. The quarter’s fourth quarter net income was reported as $4.1 million, or $0.22 per share, compared to the $8.9 million, or $0.47 per share for the previous quarter. The reported earnings per share results exclude restructuring and impairment charges resulting in earnings per share of $0.62, versus $0.53 per share for the 2009 third quarter.

The company’s Board of Directors has also declared a regular quarterly dividend of $0.05 per share of its common stock. The dividend is payable on March 17, 2010. The record date is February 26, 2010.
Minerals Technologies Inc. is a resource- and technology-based company that develops, produces and markets worldwide a range of specialty mineral, mineral-based and synthetic mineral products and supporting systems and services. The Company operates in two reportable segments: Specialty Minerals and Refractories. The Specialty Minerals segment produces and sells the synthetic mineral product precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) and processed mineral product quicklime (lime), and mines mineral ores then processes and sells natural mineral products, primarily limestone and talc.
