Inaugural Cornhole Event ACO Go the Distance Festival Field of Dreams Movie Site August 2022

Go the Distance Baseball and The Field of Dreams Movie Site are hosting the American Cornhole Organization’s first-ever ACO Go The Distance Festival Aug. 26-28, 2022.

“We are truly excited to host this inaugural event. The beauty of the movie site is that it is so much more than a baseball field, and this event is part of our effort to welcome those to our site that are not necessarily avid baseball fans. Our attraction is fun for the entire family and those of all ages, baseball fans or not” says Roman Weinberg, Director of Operations for Go the Distance Baseball, LLC, the entity that owns the Field of Dreams Movie Site. “Cornhole is extremely popular throughout Iowa and the Midwest, and having the ability to showcase a wholesome game, in addition to baseball, that brings people together is an opportunity we couldn’t pass up.”

The Go the Distance Festival is a three-day cornhole event featuring Singles and Doubles competition; The Corny 40 Classic and the Dream Team Invitational. Friday and Saturday will feature four Doubles Qualifier tournaments, with the top six teams of each qualifier advancing to Sunday’s final bracket.

These qualifiers are all open to the public for participation. On Sunday, the advancing teams will compete against the ACO “Corny 40”, the top 40 Season 17 ranked ACO players in the world, and their respectively chosen partners. The tournament has a total purse attached to the event of $25,000, with the top 64 teams all guaranteed to walk away with prize money. The winning team will take home a cash prize and a specially designed commemorative trophy.

In addition, on Saturday, the ACO “Corny 40” will compete against one another in an exclusive Singles tournament to win a cash prize as well as the “Kinsella Family Experience,” the ultimate Field of Dreams Movie Site package including an overnight stay in the Farm House, guided tours inside the house, movie site apparel, and more!

“If there is a more perfect partnership than the American Cornhole Organization and the Field of Dreams Movie Site, I couldn’t tell you what it is”, says ACO Founder and President, Frank Geers. Geers continues: “We heard the voices from within the endless rows of corn at this legendary field and are set to bring together two uniquely American pastimes; rooted both in life-changing nostalgia and modern family fun. We could not be more thrilled to walk side by side with the ghosts and the guests we will welcome to be a part of our Inaugural ACO Go the Distance Festival.”

The 32 cornhole courts will be set up in a specially created ‘Tailgate Zone’ overlooked by a hospitality viewing deck at the Field of Dreams Movie Site, with the exclusive ACO Corny 40 Classic Singles tournament on Saturday and the Sunday Championship matches held in the newly remodeled Event Center on the property.
