The American Cornhole Organization, the Worldwide Governing Body of the sport of cornhole since 2005, continues in its ever-present mission to advance the sport with the introduction of ACO Skins Cornhole; to be the centerpiece of its Season 19 ACO Pro Series tournaments and more. ACO Skins Cornhole will be patterned off the ‘skins’ style scoring format used in such sports as golf, disc golf and curling.
Frank Geers, Founder and President of the ACO commented: “Since day one the ACO has been focused on ways to bring cornhole to the masses, with as many forms of competition as possible; all with standardized, easy to adopt rules and equipment specifications. ACO Skins Cornhole represents the next step in creating more opportunities for families, friends, players and pros to gather around a set of cornhole boards and pitch bags together. The chance to earn skins in the process adds a new level of excitement, and a little good natured/solid earning pressure, to games happening from the back yard to ACO Center Court.”
The American Cornhole Organization was recognized early on by major news outlets such as the Wall Street Journal (June 2007) and ESPN (2014) as the organization founded to promote the game as a sport and create standardized rules and equipment specs. The ACO will be hosting The World Championships of Cornhole 18 in Owensboro, KY the last week of July 2023. The best players in the world will compete in multiple divisions for prize money totaling more than $75,000.00.
Geers concluded: “The ACO Skins Cornhole format will consist of thirteen ‘frames’ (single direction pitching) with each frame valued at one ‘skin’ and assigned cash bounty. The first player to win seven ‘skins’ will collect those seven points as well as the cash bounty associated with those seven AND any remaining unclaimed skins. All skins claimed, win, or lose, will be paid out to the player scoring them as a means of rewarding top tier play; something that has always been part of the ACO mission.”
