Owensboro Convention Center to Host ACO/AAU Junior World Championships of Cornhole July 19 & 20, 2024

The Owensboro Convention Center is set to welcome young cornhole enthusiasts for the ACO/AAU Junior World Championships of Cornhole on July 19 and 20, 2024. This groundbreaking event, a collaboration between the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and the American Cornhole Organization (ACO), marks a significant milestone in youth cornhole competition.

The AAU, renowned for fostering champions for over a century, expands its commitment to promoting amateur sports and physical fitness by hosting the World Championships of Cornhole for youth athletes. The AAU's philosophy of "Sports For All, Forever" resonates with nearly 800,000 members and 150,000 volunteers across 50+ sports programs and 55 U.S. districts.

Established in 2005, the ACO serves as the governing body for the sport of cornhole, offering official rules, sanctioned products, world rankings, the ACO PRO Tour, and other cornhole events. The mission of the ACO is to enhance awareness and competition in the sport of cornhole by governing rules and regulations, hosting tournaments, and fostering a community of players, both social and professional.

Junior Cornhole Age Divisions:

  • 10 U = 8, 9 & 10 year olds
  • 12 U = 11 & 12 year olds
  • 14 U = 13 & 14 year olds
  • 16 U = 15 & 16 year olds
  • 18 U = 17 & 18 year olds

Boys and Girls will compete in the same Age Divisions, with a maximum of 64 players per division. Players may not play down to a lower age division, but playing up is allowed.

Tournaments & Entry Fees:

  • Junior Cornhole Singles
  • Junior Cornhole Doubles
  • Junior Cornhole Quads (4 per team)

Entry Fee – Places one player into all three Tournaments: Doubles, Quads, and Singles.

  • $50 for AAU Members
  • $75 for Non-AAU Members – includes 1 year AAU membership

9am Doubles Pools 

* Round Robin (Singles Switcholio)

* Guaranteed to Play a Minimum 4 Games

1pm Doubles Tier 1 and Tier 2

Top 16 Teams per Tier Play Double Elimination

* One Game in Winners Bracket, 1 Game in Losers Bracket

6pm Quads

* Random Tier 1 Team Paired with Random Tier 2 Team

Maximum 16 Teams per AGE Bracket

* Double Elimination

* 1 Game in Winners Bracket, 1 Game in Losers Bracket, with a Traditional Double Dip in Championship Match

* Double Elimination
