With the number three selection in this year’s NBA Draft the Atlanta Hawks opted to take Florida’s 6-10, 245 pound power forward Al Horford. Most believe that Horford is physically ready for the NBA but his offense will need some work if he is to contribute on both ends of the court.
Rather than address their need for a point guard the Hawks went with the defensive presence that Horford will present. As a big rebounder and shot blocker Horford should be able to able to help the Hawks who finished eleventh in the Eastern Conference on the glass.
