Ralph Nader Contemplating Running For President

Ralph Nader is thinking about getting into the presidential race. However, he said he would wait until fall to make his decision.

Nader’s decision will dependent on getting enough volunteers and pro bono lawyers to get him on the ballot in all 50 states. However, he expects a lot of opposition from the Democrats.

In 2000 when Nader ran for president, he upset the Democrats quite a bit. He ran as a Green Party candidate and ended up winning 2.7 percent of the votes. The Democrats felt that Nader was responsible for taking away votes from Al Gore, the Democrats’ presidential candidate, particularly in New Hampshire and Florida because of which Gore lost the 2000 elections.

In 2004 when Nader decided to run again, he won just one-third of 1 percent of the popular vote.

73-year old Nader claims that he wants to run for president because he wants all types of third-party candidates to have access to the ballot and he wants to train the new generation into progressive thinkers. He added that he would run for president if radio personality and former agriculture commissioner of Texas, Jim Hightower, and other obscure candidates decide to also join the fray.

Nader feels that the Democrats will win the presidential election provided they do not do anything to ruin their chances.

With regard to Ralph Nader once again being the spoiler will only come out in the fall. However, Nader thinks that the label is more apt for George Bush than anyone else.
