Clearwater, FL, June 29, 2007 – Joy Gendusa of PostcardMania is again showing her support of United States’ troops in Iraq by donating the printing and partial design of 5,000 postcards for soldiers to write to family and friends and share good news. Behold the number of headlines in the news about the dissenting views on America’s current war with Iraq. You’ll notice on a daily, even hourly, basis the negativity of the headlines that tell of fatalities and bombings. According to Gendusa, however, more important than these headlines and political spats are those soldiers stationed overseas who bravely do what they believe is right amid the political debates, and the good news they’d like to share.
To continue to show her support, Gendusa’s pro-bono division accepted an application from Captain Robert F. Payne, who’s currently stationed with his unit in Baghdad, Iraq. The purpose for his project is two-fold: 1) to give postcards to service members and civilians that are working in Iraq to write home to their loved one and 2) have the website address of the Multi-National Force- Iraq on the postcards, so that the good stories of Iraq can get out too. Considering the only stipulation of Gendusa’s application is that organizations that apply have the purpose of assisting mankind to improve his lot and make the world a better place, CPT Payne’s purpose to help his troops and their loved ones definitely fits the bill.
"This war is fought on many fronts: the military front, the political front, the economic front and the information front. As part of our efforts to tell the full story of Operation Iraqi Freedom, we would like to have postcards with MNF-I’s website address to show the good stories in Iraq. The postcards are a great way to allow loved ones to communicate with soldiers in Iraq. A lot of soldiers don’t have access to the internet and this allows them to maintain contact with their families," remarked CPT Payne about this project.
"I feel that it’s really important for people and businesses to show their support for our courageous military personnel. Sure, we all have thoughts on this war and its strategy, but behind all that are those troops. It’s important they not be smothered by political turmoil, and that their stories get out," said Gendusa after being asked why she picked this proposal as one of her pro-bono projects.
