Fred Thompson Garners Endorsements From Ex-Wife And Former Girlfriends

Things are going quite well for Fred Thompson, who is a potential presidential candidate. He is getting endorsements from his ex-wife and former girlfriends.

Thompson, who is 64 years old, dated for a long time after his marriage of 26 years ended in 1984. In 2002, he re-married, and his present wife is 24 years younger than him. Thompson still has a good relationship with his first wife and she intends to campaign for him.

It is expected that Thompson will formally announce his candidacy some time in July but he had a fundraising in Nashville on June 26, 2007 after which he intends to make stops in South Carolina and New Hampshire, the early primary states.

Many of Fred Thompson’s old girlfriends still like him a lot and they are hoping that he wins.

Even though Thompson has not announced his candidature for the presidential election, he still enjoys tremendous support from the public. His supporters see him in the same mold as Ronal Reagan who has the ability to push conservative values.

According to a recent poll conducted by CNN, Thompson is behind only Rudy Giuliani. Giuliani is leading with 31 percent, with Thompson in the second place with 21 percent followed by John McCain in third place with 19 percent.

If Thompson’s support in the polls increases, it will be at the expense of McCain. McCain was once considered as the favorite to win the Republican nomination but presently he behind in the polls and is facing difficulties raising money for his campaign.

Kavita Masthoff, an analyst from USAElectionPolls.com, contends that Thompson’s support will further increase once he announces his entry in the presidential race formally. However, the support will not last long as he would not be able to put a campaign in place to sustain the publicity he will receive.
