Cameron Diaz in the middle of ‘Mindfreak’ star Criss Angel and wife divorce battle

Mindfreak star Criss Angel is being sued by his estranged wife, Joanne Sarantakos. She claims her husband had an affair with actress Cameron Diaz and is accusing him of mental cruelty and abandonment.

Angel and his wife had been married for five years but had been together for fifteen. She claims Angel had not been supporting her. Angels lawyer, Elliot Weiner, denied that and said “the notion the she’s not being supported is simply not accurate.”

Sarantakos lawyer, Dominic Barbara, said “We’re naming Cameron Diaz as his lover. We will subpoena her as soon as she comes back to New York.” Barbara also claimed that Angel had kept Sarantakos a “secret” so their marriage would not affect his career.

Diaz and Angel were spotted together a few times in May. Only two days after they met they were seen in Las Vegas at a Cirque du Soleil show. A witness told PEOPLE, “They were snuggling with each other and he was making her laugh.”

Angel also commented to PEOPLE about his relationship with Diaz saying, “Cam is an amazing person. I’m so honored to be able to call her my friend.”

In court Angel tried to talk to his in-laws but they refused to be friendly. Sarantakos’s brother, Micheal Winkhart, said “He really played the ‘Mindfreak’ game on her. He reduced her to a role where she occupied less than 5 percent of his life.”

Diaz’s and Angel’s reps have not commented on the situation.

The judge encouraged the couple to settle their divorce outside of court because a public divorce could take nearly two years.
