The embattled frontman for British band Babyshambles, Pete Doherty, pled guilty on Tuesday to possession of crack cocaine, heroin, cannabis and ketamine.
Doherty, who has been in and out of rehab after numerous run-ins with the law, is once again faced with detoxing or jail. The 28-year-old boyfriend of supermodel Kate Moss had his sentencing deferred until Aug. 7 but he must enter a rehab clinic by July 16 to avoid jail time.
District Judge Davinder Lachhar told Doherty “If you go to this place to have detox and take advantage of it then we will see what sentence is appropriate when you next come, but if you do not I can tell you now that you will go into custody.”
Doherty also entered a guilty plea to two driving offenses related to a May 5 arrest that was tied to the drug possession charges. On top of those charges Doherty pled guilty to failing to show up to court on time without a legitimate excuse. His tardiness upset Lachhar so much that he issued an arrest warrant for Doherty after waiting for an extended period of time for the singer to show up.
