Kevin Durant and Jeff Green signed contracts with the Seattle SuperSonics on Wednesday softening the blow of losing Rashard Lewis to the Orlando Magic earlier in the week.
Durant will be looked upon to fill the shoes of Lewis who averaged 22.4 points per game and 6.6 rebounds. The 18-year-old Durant was the second overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft after being named the Associated Press college player of the year.
The Sonics will pay Durant $3.476 million as a rookie and bump him up to $3.736 in his second season.
Wednesday also marked the signing of Jeff Green who was originally selected by the Boston Celtics with the number five pick but was quickly shipped to the Pacific Northwest in the Ray Allen deal. Green will make $2.548 million this year and then $2.739 million for his second season.
Seattle holds options for the third and fourth seasons of Durant and Green.
