Wladimir Klitschko exacted a bit of revenge in Cologne, Gemany on Saturday when he recorded a technical knockout against Lamon Brewster after the American couldn’t answer the bell to begin the seventh round.
Klitschko, now 49-3, was in complete control throughout the fight keeping Brewster at bay with a left jab. By the sixth round Brewster was subjected to a pair of combinations from the Ukrainian that left him stunned. When the round ended Brewster took a seat in his corner and didn’t return for the seventh.
For Klitschko the victory was redemption for a 2004 loss he suffered to Brewster. In that fight the six-foot six-inch Klitschko controlled the early rounds but was caught in the fifth by two left hooks that ended his night and resulted in Brewster taking the vacant WBO title.
Klitschko won the gold medal in the super-heavyweight division at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
