Former President Bill Clinton was taken to a New York
hospital Thursday after suffering “discomfort in his chest,” according to his
rep. The 63-year-old, who underwent a quadruple bypass in 2004, underwent
surgery to place two stents in one of his arteries.
“Today President Bill Clinton was admitted to the
Columbia Campus of New York Presbyterian Hospital after feeling discomfort in
his chest," his spokesperson, Douglas Band, said. "Following a visit
to his cardiologist, he underwent a procedure to place two stents in one of his
coronary arteries.
Band added that Clinton is “in good spirits” and plans to
continue focusing on his foundation and the relief effort in Haiti.
According to MSNBC, Clinton called the hospital’s head cardiologist
on Tuesday complaining of chest pains. He was scheduled to see the doctor
Wednesday but postponed the appointment until Thursday.
