Cindy Sheehan once devoted her life to bringing down President George Bush but now the anti-war mother has shifted her tactics and set her sights on those members of Congress who have not effectively challenged the President’s decisions.
Sheehan gained international recognition when she purchased land next to Bush’s ranch in Crawford, Texas and staged a month long protest against the U.S. involvement in Iraq. Dubbed “Camp Casey” in honor of her son who died in Iraq, Sheehan recently sold the property after becoming disillusioned by the lack of support from those in Congress.
Rather than spend her energy chasing the President, Sheehan has focused her attention on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Sheehan has said that if Pelosi doesn’t move to have Bush impeached within the next two weeks she will run against Pelosi in California in 2008.
Sheehan has said a mounting frustration with the way Democrats have handled the war has led her to possibly campaign against Pelosi.
