With expectations from Angelina Jolie and Paramount Pictures incredibly high the disappointing turnout at theaters for “A Mighty Heart” has led to a new marketing approach to keep Oscar hopes alive.
The film had its screenings cut in half recently to give it a longer shelf life and is hoping it will attract audiences in a more concentrated market rather than spreading itself thin.
Both Jolie and Paramount are hoping to keep the film floating long enough to generate some sort of Oscar buzz. Jolie had promoted “A Mighty Heart” on almost every occasion possible yet the movie hasn’t attracted the crowds.
In the film Jolie portrays Mariane Pearl, the wife of slain Wall Street Journal journalist Daniel Pearl who was kidnapped and murdered in 2002 while investigating a story in Pakistan.
