The cinematic phenomenon known as "Transformers", starring Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight and Megan Fox, has taken the box office by storm. Directed by Michael Bay and executive produced by Steven Spielberg, the classic cartoon-turned-film has matched the star power of its executives. The movie took in an estimated $67.6 million this weekend, culminating its North American total thus far to a whopping $152.5 million. With these financial landmarks, the movie had the highest-grossing first week for any nonsequel film, closely edging 2002's "Spider Man", which grossed $151.6 million in its first week.
With an astounding $147 million price tag to make the film, it has already broken even after its first full week. In addition to these staggering North American numbers, the movie also made $34.7 million internationally, giving it a gross of $187.2 million.
