Former President Bill Clinton was released from New
York-Presbyterian Hospital Friday morning following an emergency heart
procedure on Thursday. Clinton is now “in excellent health” and resting at his
home in Chappaqua, according to his spokesperson Doug Band.
Clinton was hospitalized Thursday after experience chest
discomfort over the past week. Dr. Mark Apfelbaum, a cardiologist, and Dr.
Craig Smith, who performed bypass surgery on Clinton in 2004, inserted two
stents in a blocked artery. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and their daughter
Chelsea visited him in the hospital.
“He warmly thanks the doctors, nurses, and staff of the
Hospital for the care he received ... [and] the many people who extended their
best wishes to him for a quick recovery," Band said in a statement. "He
looks forward in the days ahead to getting back to the work of his Foundation,
and to Haiti relief and recovery efforts."
