Multi-platinum, two-time MTV VMA award-winning Island Records group Fall Out Boy – whose RIAA platinum new album INFINITY ON HIGH is in its 22nd week on the Billboard 200 album chart after debuting at #1 – is on top of the world after headlining the 42-city Honda Civic Tour of North America from April through June, drawing the NBC’s Today Show’s biggest outdoor audience ever for their live performance outside on the Plaza, and then appearing at Al Gore’s prestigious Live Earth Festival last weekend alongside Bon Jovi, Kanye West, Madonna, and other top acts.
In addition, Fall Out Boy’s current video for the infectious rocker “The Takeover, the Breaks Over” is the band’s sixth #1 video on MTV’s TRL. The follow-up video, for “I’m Like a Lawyer (Me & You),” will be shot next week in UGANDA when the band travels to Africa for the first time. They were drawn there by the charity Invisible Children (www.invisiblechildren.com). After the shoot the band will head to South Africa for a sold-out-in-advance performance to over 18,000 fans at the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg. While there, Fall Out Boy will become the first American band ever to perform on the popular young adult show “The Wildroom.” The African journey will wrap up with a trip to Sun City for a safari that will be filmed as well.
INFINITY ON HIGH is the follow-up From Under The Cork Tree, Fall Out Boy’s Island debut, which has sold more than 3 million copies worldwide since its release in May 2005. Formed from Chicago’s hardcore scene in 2000, Fall Out Boy built their loyal fanbase online and on tours such as the annual Vans Warped Tour and Nintendo Fusion package tours of 2005. Since headlining their first major market headlining North American arena tour in spring 2006, they have appeared on the covers of Rolling Stone, Spin, Blender, and Alternative Press and have performed on NBC’s Saturday Night Live, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and Late Night with Conan O’Brien, CBS’s The Late Show with David Letterman, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, and more.
