Dwight Howard Signs Five-Year Extension with Orlando Magic

The Orlando Magic continued their commitment to winning on Thursday after signing All-Star center Dwight Howard to a five-year contract extension worth a reported $85 million.

Recognized as one of the brightest young stars in the NBA, Howard averaged 17.6 points and 12.3 rebounds per game last year and hasn’t missed a game since being selected with the No.1 overall pick in the 2004 NBA draft straight out of high school.

Earlier this month the Orlando Magic acquired Rashard Lewis though a six-year deal worth $110 million. The Magic are hoping the tandem of Howard and Lewis will earn them their second consecutive playoff appearance and a legitimate shot at totaling the best record in the Eastern Conference.
