Famous tenor Jerry Hadley remains on life support after shooting himself

Famous tenor Jerry Hadley remains on life support after a self inflicted gun shot wound to the head.

 

Hadley was found unconscious on his bedroom floor by police on Tuesday. He shot himself with an air rifle just after 7 a.m. on Tuesday. He was taken to the St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, New York.

 

According to doctors the 55-year-old singer suffers from severe brain injuries. According to a statement doctors will evaluate whether to keep him on life support or not. Hadley was being treated by a doctor for depression and he also was filing for bankruptcy.

 

Hadley faced trouble last year when he was arrested in Manhattan on DUI charges but prosecutors dropped the case.

 

Hadley was well known for creating the title role in composer John Harbison’s “The Great Gatsby.” He also created the lead in Paul McCartney’s “Liverpool Oratorio.” He was chosen by Leonard Bernstein to sing the main part in his musical “Candide.”

 

He performed at many opera houses around the world and is known as for his “agile romantic tenor.” He did a best-selling recording of “Show Boat.”
